From daily struggles to rediscovering strength, movement, and confidence
About Hetal Jaiswal
My name is Hetal Jaiswal, and I live with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), a condition that changed my relationship with my body, my time, and my expectations from everyday life.
Rheumatoid Arthritis didn’t arrive suddenly for me. It entered my life quietly, through small signs that were easy to ignore at first. Over time, those signs became harder to dismiss. This is my story shared in the hope that someone else might feel understood, encouraged, or alone.
The Beginning: When Pain Became a Daily Companion
My journey with Rheumatoid Arthritis began with joint pain and stiffness that didn’t go away. At first, it felt manageable, something I could push through. But slowly, it started to interfere with my routine.
I noticed:
- Stiffness in the mornings that made movement slow and uncomfortable
- Pain in my joints lingered longer than expected
- Fatigue that affected my energy throughout the day
What worried me most was how unpredictable it felt. Some days were easier, while others felt overwhelming without any clear reason.
Searching for Answers: Understanding What Was Happening to My Body
As the symptoms continued, I realized this wasn’t something I could ignore. Seeking medical help became necessary, even though it was emotionally difficult.
When I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, I felt a mix of emotions relief at finally having an explanation, and fear about what it meant for my future. Understanding that RA is an autoimmune condition helped me make sense of the pain, stiffness, and fatigue I had been experiencing.
That diagnosis marked the beginning of a new chapter, one where learning and acceptance became essential.
Living with Rheumatoid Arthritis: My Everyday Reality
Living with RA affects more than just my joints, it influences how I plan my days and manage my energy.
There are mornings when stiffness slows me down, and simple tasks require more effort. Activities that once felt effortless now need planning and patience. I’ve learned that listening to my body is not a weakness, it’s a necessity.
Daily life with RA has taught me to:
- Pace myself without feeling guilty
- Take breaks when my body needs rest
- Adjust expectations while still moving forward
The Emotional Side of My RA Journey
One of the hardest parts of living with Rheumatoid Arthritis is dealing with what others can’t see.
There were times when:
- My pain wasn’t visible, but very real
- Fatigue was misunderstood as tiredness
- Emotional exhaustion felt harder than physical pain
Learning to acknowledge my emotions, and allow myself grace, became an important part of healing.
What Helped Me Adapt and Regain Balance
Over time, I realized that managing RA isn’t about fighting my body, it’s about working with it.
What helped me the most:
- Staying informed about Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Following a consistent treatment and care routine
- Incorporating gentle movement into my daily life
- Seeking emotional and community support
Small, consistent efforts made a big difference in helping me feel more in control.
The Role of Support in My Journey
Support played a crucial role in helping me navigate life with Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Having people who listened, understood, and encouraged me made difficult days easier. Being connected to a patient-focused community reminded me that I wasn’t alone in this journey, and that shared experiences can be incredibly powerful.
